The British Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (BSSFN) is affiliated to the Society of British Neurological Surgery and consists of professionals who are involved in therapies related to this branch of Neurosurgery (see Procedures), including Deep Brain Stimulation for diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, tremor or pain.

We consist of Neurosurgeons (including Trainees), Nurses, Industry representatives and allied health care professionals. Our aim as a society is to provide a forum for professionals to communicate (such as by organising an Annual Scientific Meeting) and to help patients by providing a voice for such professionals on subjects such as commissioning of health care and to promote the awareness of conditions that we treat.

By our network of professionals, we also help to support projects such as the National DBS Registry and provide representatives for committees such as those in NICE
